Author interview with Randi Everheart
Please welcome Author Randi
Everheart
Thanks for having me on your blog!
I write steamy, contemporary romance but still have
my day job as a software developer, where I create database-driven websites for
federal government agencies, as a contractor.
I live in Maryland with my spouse, toddler, and cat. I own and ride both a horse and
motorcycle. My degree was in classical
guitar and I’ve released several CDs of my own rock music under my own name
(Randi Everheart is a pseudonym).
***Tell us about your book.***
TRISTAN is about a sport bike racer, Tristan
Kendall, who left home and the woman he loved to make a name for himself
racing, but now he’s back after five years and wondering what became of
Victoria. When he finds her in an
unexpected way, she has some surprises for him.
He’d broken up with her because her father died in a
motorcycle accident and Tristan’s riding made her literally sick with
worry. He knew she couldn’t handle the
stress, so he left her. He’s since
regretted it and wants her back.
But she’s moved on and doesn’t want to get attached
to someone who just might leave again, so Tristan has his work cut out for
him. Can he convince her he’ll do
anything to get her back, even it means quitting racing?
TRISTAN is volume one in my Kendall Family Series,
which will be at least six books, one for each of the Kendall siblings. The family owns a winery, stables, and
bed-and-breakfast near the slopes of Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland.
If you could only have one vice what would it be?
Hmm. Maybe
cockiness. I say this because I don’t do
well with self-promotion, being too modest for my own good, and maybe I’d be
better at it if I was cocky about it. I
don’t like to talk about any aspirations with my writing, for example. I don’t seek the limelight. Most people I know don’t even know I write
books, or if they do, they find out from someone else, not me. Modesty (and not wanting to be the center of
attention) is supposed to be a virtue but I find it more of a hindrance I
guess.
What are you working on now?
More books in the Kendall Family Series!
What’s your favorite movie?
The Princess Bride.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be
and why?
New Zealand.
I’ve wanted to go there ever since watching Xena: Warrior Princess, in the 1990s, but it’s a long, expensive
trip from Maryland and I never got around to it before having my son. And now I can’t imagine that flight with a
toddler! Maybe when he’s older – and if
I can make a living writing and can live anywhere without worrying about the
job market.
What genre do you write and why?
I write contemporary romance because I love
exploring relationships and I can use what I know, such as my knowledge of
motorcycles, music, programmers, wines, and horseback riding.
What was the first thing you wrote? Is it published?
A pretty bad fantasy book that will hopefully never
see the light of day. In my nightmares,
I become a famous author and anger a hacker group like Anonymous and they find
the old manuscript and release it to the public, to my unending
humiliation. I was 17-18 at the time, so
that would be my excuse! Being immature,
my characters were, too.
Name 5 things that are on your desk right now?
I don’t actually have one! I write on a laptop.
If you could add one famous Character from another book to
your book who would it be?
Darth Vadar, though I guess that’s a movie
(technically they were turned into books, so does that count?). He’s stylish, cool, is crazy powerful and
also just crazy, and he has a killer speaking voice. He’d also be totally out of place in a
contemporary romance and I think I could use him to great comedic effect.
What is your biggest distraction when it comes to writing?
My toddler, since I’m usually watching him while
trying to write. And now that he’s
giving up his nap time, my productivity might drop!

Winning her heart again meant more than any
championship
Five years ago, Tristan Kendall left home and the woman he
loved to prove himself on the sport bike racing circuit. With his career
briefly on hold, he’s come to realize everything - and everyone - he ever
wanted was right at home all along. Now he’s determined to win back her heart
no matter the cost.
But Victoria Lane’s been through more than Tristan knows
since he broke her heart. No longer the girl he once knew, she has a life to
live, and a heart to give, but only to someone who’s planning to stick around.
And she’s sure that isn’t him. Can he convince her that she’s the only victory
lane he wants to be in?
