Character Interview with Landra Graf

Thank you for coming to chat with us today. Why do you think Landra chose you to represent her?
She's always told me I've got a lot of charm. It could also be because I'm good at getting people to talk to me... Oh, and I like to talk.

Tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Ian Malcolm. I'm a ex-merchant and land owner, who's had to turn to bounty hunting as a way of repaying my debt to the mercenary gang that helped me escape my cousin and America.

What is your birth date? It's rude to ask man how old he is. *smiles wide* No, honestly I was born in the early 1900s, during the first world war to be more on point. I've never known a time where Germany didn't rule continental Europe, nor have I ever known liquor to be legal in America.

Where do you live? Right now, I'm on board the sky ship Liberte. I'm escorting the ship, crew, and their gorgeous Captain on a mission to locate that mercenary gang I mentioned. I've got a bounty for them, a nasty piece of work named Tuul. The gang is called the Cursed. Shouldn't take more than a few more days and we'll have their location sussed out.

What do you wish people would know about you? I don't like bloodshed. Most problems can be solved with words and negotiation. Death doesn't solve problems, communication does. Too often I've seen death dealt out in situations where it wasn't needed.  I also enjoy nice conversations, women who surprise me, and believe loyalty is hard to find.

What music do you listen too? Oh, jazz is by far my favorite. I'm from Nawlins, remember? Robert Johnson for the soulful touch, too. Man's words and lyrics touch deep. Fats Waller and some good ol'fashioned Duke Ellington will solve in a pinch. I don't mind some of the newer stuff either, like Fred Astaire. Whoever writes his songs sure knows a thing or two.

Will we be seeing more of you or are you stepping out of the lime light? Sorella and I are only signed up for one story, as far as I've been told. But in the next book we're supposed to get a little shine of the lime light. At least I get to employ some of my genius planning skills for sure.

Where have we seen you before? You could've seen me anywhere. Honestly I've been all over Europe on different assignments from clubs to private parties. I always like to make folks laugh and get secrets out of others.

What is your perfect evening? A intimate dinner with candle light and soft playing music. Then to be able to pleasure my companion in any way I can. Oh, and no interruptions like making port in a city or getting into some battle en route to our destination. Life is never dull on a ship.

Is there anything you wish Landra had kept their mouth shut about?

It would've been nice if she'd never involved my ex in the story. That woman has never been anything but trouble. Hell, that's half the reason I fell for her to begin with. Thankfully Sorella took care of the problem with my ex before it go to out of control.

Do you feel you were portrayed fairly?
I got a fair shake. Some people didn't get to share as much as I did. Landra did an amazing job of making sure my preferences were considered.

Tell us about Sorella what drew you to her? *sighs* Where to start... The woman is simply amazing. She's tough, yet vunerable. Her skills with a knife are crazy and her ability to size up opponents and situations is masterful. Honestly, I was drawn to how dangerous she is. I mean this woman could kill me, easily. Something about that gets my blood pumping.

What do you do to relax? Relax... probably eat dinner. That's about it. Life in my world doesn't really involve much relaxing. If you can get a romp in bed you're about as relaxed as you may get.
What’s your favorite sports team? The Yanks of course. Those boys have been winning World Series for years. They're the best baseball team in America. I think they have what it takes to go all the way this year to. Especially with Gehrig and DiMaggio.

What about the cover is that a fair representation of you?
Let's be real, I'm not even on the cover. Nope, Sorella got the honor of taking up the whole things. That's fine with me. I'm more of a behind the scenes person. She deserved front and center. Besides, I'm the one she'll be with at night.

What’s you biggest turn ons?
Honesty and openness.

What are your biggest Turn offs?
Liars and cheaters. *chuckles* You laugh, I know. My world's filled wtih a lot of both of those, but every so often I come across a woman who's very refreshing.

What’s your perfect day?
Any day where I'm not needing to worry if my life is in danger would be a perfect day. I don't see that happening anytime soon, unless Landra knows something she's not telling me.

What your favorite Ice cream flavor, Chocolate, Vanilla, or Strawberry?
Ooh, Ice cream. That's something I haven't enjoyed in forever. Traveling on a sky ship doesn't afford such luxuries, but now that you've put it in my mind I'll be asking the cook, Bonita, if she can make some vanilla ice cream. Oh, I didn't really answer the questions. *snaps fingers* Vanilla, goes best with cobblers and pie.

Do you believe in ghosts?
*scoffs* No time for them. There are more real life dangers I need to be worried about.

What is your biggest fear? That Luther and the Cursed are going to kill me and Sorella if we don't get that bounty to them soon. It's dangerous to live in my world, but even worse when there's a debt to settle. This is my last job. I get it done and I'll finally be free.

Once Upon A Time...

Sorella Corvino lost her brother to The Cursed years ago. Sorella is so determined to find him, she'll make any deal, rescue the outcasts and those like him, and risk flying into any port to rescue him. When her latest pirate efforts partner her with a bounty hunter who's too charming, sexy, and handsome for his own good, she knows she's in trouble.
Ian Marshall no longer believes in fairy tales…

Disowned and a marked criminal in the United States, this merchant turned bounty hunter, is one bounty away from freedom; and freedom's price is handing over one person to the most cutthroat gang in the world, The Cursed. Yet, he can't get to them without Sorella's help. Too bad she's gorgeous, aggravating, and a little trigger happy.

As the attraction mounts, the danger grows and the pair find themselves invading a skin trader den, the ballrooms of dictator-ruled Germany, and fighting battles in the sky in the hopes of getting everything they want. Only thing they didn't plan on... falling in love.

“I already paid off the police, at least for the moment. Until your cousin offers them more.” The words rolled off her tongue matter-of-factly as if this sort of situation occurred every day. His pants tightened at her words. A woman who feared nothing, who didn’t believe in danger.

“Very generous of you.”

“Hmm?” She stopped playing with her balisong knife and looked at him.

He came toward her, arms open, expecting her to move away from the door and put distance between them. She didn’t. “You protected me at your own expense.”

“I thought you might take my generosity as replacement for me losing the bet.”

Less than six inches separated their bodies. The pulse point at her neck fluttered, her breath shallow. Her knife stilled in her hand, closed, but ready to deploy. She waited for him to make a move.

The distinct possibility existed he’d be dead in the next minute, but her lips were deep red, like cherries he’d eaten in late summer. To leave them untouched would be a crime. “You thought wrong.”

He leaned in. She gasped, and then he kissed her.

She’d been kissed before, but it had merely been her parents’ chaste touches to her cheeks or forehead, and, once, her fiancĂ© had brushed her lips with his. Otherwise, she had remained untouched until now. As he touched the tip of his tongue to her closed mouth, a sinful sensation swamped her body. Gooseflesh broke out underneath her clothes, and little hairs stood up on the back of her neck.
Sorella grabbed the lapels of his coat and opened her mouth. Something carnal took over, an instinct to engage his tongue in some primitive dance. If this was considered uncivilized, she’d gladly abandon society and all its norms.

As fast as the moment began, it ended, and Ian pulled back a few inches. “You taste amazing.”

He did, too; like peppermint, and…. “You taste familiar.” Not as if she’d tasted him before, but somehow the aromatic tang of his mouth and the scent of his breath on an exhale resonated within her. She’d bottle it if she knew how. “Kiss me again.”

“As my captain commands.”
